इस हफ्ते की शुरुआत में दिल्ली चुनाव के लिए इमाम बुखारी के फतवे के बाद अरुण जेटली ने कहा कि जो लोग इस फतवे के विरोध में हैं जमकर वोट करें. अखबारों और चैनलों में इसको लेकर जो खबरें चलीं. उससे जेटली की छवि पर नकारात्मक प्रभाव पडा. 9 फरवरी को इंडियन एक्सप्रेस में एक एक्सक्लूसिव स्टोरी छपी- HSBC Indian list just doubled to 1195 names. Balance: Rs 25420 cr- जिसमें भारतीय स्विस बैंक धारकों के एकाउंट के बारे में बताया गया. उसके बाद ये खबर चैनलों ने उठा ली. सभी जगह इस खबर की गूँज होने लगी. इंडियन एक्सप्रेस ने लिखा- There are a few account holders with political connections, most of whom deny having accounts. There is former UPA minister Preneet Kaur, former Congress MP Annu Tandon and family members of former Maharashtra chief minister Narayan Rane — his wife Neelam Narayan Rane and son Nilesh Rane — as well as family members of the late Congress minister Vasant Sathe. चैनलों पर खबर चलने के तुरंत बाद अरुण जेटली ने प्रेस कांफ्रेंस की और इन बैंक एकाउंट्स पर चल रही कार्रवाई की भी जानकारी भी दी लेकिन भाजपा को इस खबर से जितना नुक्सान होना था, हो चुका था . सोशल वेबसाइट्स पर भी इस खबर ने जोर पकड़ लिया. अरविन्द केजरीवाल ने ट्वीट किया- But bigger Q is – what did first cong and now BJP do? Nothing? Why? Some of these people claim to hv both BJP n Cong in their pocket… साथ ही इंडियन एक्सप्रेस के लिए ट्वीट किया- Congratulations to @IndianExpress for showing courage..
