जिस नए तरह की राजनीति की बात आम आदमी पार्टी करती थी, वह इस सप्ताह सड़क पर नज़र आयी. पार्टी के भीतर अरविन्द केजरीवाल अन्य दलों के सुप्रीमो की तरह तानाशाह बनकर उभरे. विरोधियों को बाहर का रास्ता दिखा दिया. पूरे सप्ताह ऐसी खबरों ने अरविन्द केजरीवाल की छवि को भारी धक्का लगाया.
कभी धरना प्रदर्शन को अपना हथियार बनाने वाली आम आदमी पार्टी के ही खिलाफ शनिवार को धरना दिया गया. राष्ट्रीय परिषद की बैठक में केजरी विरोधियों को एंट्री न देने का आरोप लगाकर योगेंद्र यादव ने धरना दिया.

मौजूदा दलों को नकारा साबित कर वैकल्पिक राजनीति देने के दावे के साथ महज ढाई साल पहले बनी आम आदमी पार्टी (आप) ने शनिवार को अपनी अंदरूनी उठा-पटक के सारे रिकॉर्ड तोड़ दिए. भारी हंगामे, मार-पीट और नारेबाजी के बीच पार्टी की राष्ट्रीय समिति ने आखिरकार अपने संस्थापक सदस्यों प्रशांत भूषण और योगेंद्र यादव को पार्टी की राष्ट्रीय कार्यकारिणी से बाहर कर दिया. पार्टी ने ऐसी ही कार्रवाई उनका साथ देने वाले आनंद कुमार और अजित झा के खिलाफ भी की है. इन्हें पार्टी की सदस्यता से भी हटाने की तैयारी कर ली गई है. इस बीच, पार्टी संसदीय दल के नेता और पटियाला से लोकसभा सदस्य धर्मवीर गांधी ने ऐसी मनमानी के लिए खुल कर केजरीवाल गुट का विरोध किया है.

Amidst chaos and high drama, dissident leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav were expelled from AAP’s national executive on Saturday, in a possible precursor to their ouster from the party. A resolution to remove the two dissidents from the panel was passed immediately after party chief Arvind Kejriwal left the national council following an hour-long speech in which he asked the 311 members present to choose between him and the duo. The resolution was introduced by 147 members and read out by Kejriwal loyalist Manish Sisodia. No show-cause notice was given to Bhushan or Yadav, nor were they allowed to speak at the meeting.

The divide in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reached a point of no-return Saturday when its national council, meeting amid extraordinary scenes of strife, expelled senior leaders Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav, Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha from its national executive for “anti-party activities”. The next step could be the ouster of the four from the party which returned to power in Delhi with a landslide victory less than two months ago. Soon after their removal, Bhushan and Yadav mounted a scathing attack on AAP leader and chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying his “dictatorial tendencies” were instrumental in “the murder of democracy” by the council.

Rebel leader Yogendra Yadav has said that the party’s top man Arvind Kejriwal was always insecure about him and has replaced the fundamental founding principle of “swaraj” (self rule) with “one-man raj.”

Rebel AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said that all great leaders should have the capacity to listen to criticism. Agreeing with his colleague Prashant Bhushan’s criticism of Kejriwal, he indicated on the AAP chief’s dictatorial style of working. “Both I and Prashant ji went to Arvind and he just said that he has never been in an organisation where he does not have the final word. We tried to dissuade him and we worked out a mechanism when we thought that he has said this at the heat of the moment. But he has repeatedly said that he should have the final word in any organisation or any committee. That is how he always behaved,”

The rebel group led by Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav has attacked the loyalists for stifling dissent and intra-party discourse. Their strategy is to show Kejriwal as autocratic and intolerant. For his part, the Delhi CM has painted them as a fastidious pressure group that conspired to ‘contain him by seeking to contain the party’s poll performance.’
