Lucknow: In a determined move to safeguard I national security and preserve government land holdings, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has initiated a robust campaign to remove illegal encroachments and shut down unauthorised madrasas operating within close proximity to the India-Nepal international border. A special operation conducted between April 25 and April 27 witnessed significant action across several border districts, where longstanding illegal occupations and unrecognized religious establishments had proliferated. In Bahraich district, a comprehensive survey in Nanpara tehsil covering the critical 0 to 10-kilometre stretch along the international boundary-identified 227 instances of unauthorized encroachment on government land. Prior to the special operation, 63 illegal structures had already been dismantled.
