आयकर में गड़बड़ी और भ्रष्टाचार को लेकर हाईकोर्ट पहुंचे मामले के चलते हिमाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री वीरभद्र सिंह चर्चा में रहे.

Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Thursday said that no member of the House should doubt his government’s determination to work for all round development of the state.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday appointed an amicus curiae to assist it on the “maintainability” of a petition levelling charges of criminal misconduct and corruption against Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. A bench of chief justice G Rohini and justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw also discharged the NGO, Common Cause, which had filed a public interest litigation seeking direction to the Central Bureau of Investigation and the directorate general of income tax to initiate an investigation under the court’s supervision into the allegations of money laundering and corruption against Virbhadra.

In an interim relief to Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, the High Court today stayed the proceeding initiated by the Income Tax Department by issuing him notices for his revised income tax return. The order was passed by a Division Bench, comprising Justice Rajiv Sharma and Justice Sureshwar Thakur, on petitions filed by the CM challenging the notices issued by the I-T Department on the ground that the department has erred in issuing notices for reassessment on the basis of revised returns, whereas the agricultural income was non-taxable under the Income Tax Act.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Wednesday refused comments on the ban imposed by Himachal Pradesh High Court on the sacrifice of animals at places of worship and said the matter was sub-judice and the government would put forth its viewpoint in the court. Replying to a question by BJP members Gulab Singh and Ravinder Ravi on the state government’s stand on the ban, the Chief Minister told the Assembly during Question Hour that the government’s reply was yet to be filed in the appeal pending in the Supreme Court.

आयकर मामले में सीएम वीरभद्र सिंह को हाईकोर्ट से बड़ी राहत मिली है. हाईकोर्ट में दो न्यायाधीशों की खंडपीठ न्यायाधीश राजीव शर्मा और न्यायाधीश सुरेश्‍वर ठाकुर की अदालत में हुई सुनवाई में आयकर विभाग को दो सप्ताह के भीतर जबाव पेश करने के आदेश दिए है. मुख्‍यमंत्री वीरभद्र सिंह को आयकर विभाग की ओर से जारी किए गए नोटिस पर भी कोर्ट ने रोक लगा दी है.

सिंह ने वर्ष 2009-10 के लिए जो मूल रिटर्न फाइल किया था उसमें उन्होंने करयोग्य आय 17,08,938 रुपए और कृषि आय 7,35,000 रुपए घोषित की थी.

मुख्यमंत्री वीरभद्र सिंह ने कहा है कि वह प्रदेश के राज्यपाल का सम्मान करते हैं. उन्होंने कहा कि राज्यपाल के संदर्भ में कोई अपशब्द नहीं कहा है. उन्होंने कहा कि नेता प्रतिपक्ष प्रेम कुमार धूमल के खिलाफ भी उनकी तरफ से कोई गलत शब्द नहीं कहा गया है. उन्होंने कहा कि तत्कालीन राज्यपाल के निर्देश पर ही मामला कोर्ट में गया है. उन्होंने कहा कि वर्तमान राज्यपाल के आदेश बाद में आए हैं.
