Lucknow: A violent clash broke broke out between two student groups at Lucknow University on Wednesday, having 19 students injured, including three with serious head injuries requiring medical attention. What began as a verbal argument quickly escalated into a full-blown brawl and an ego tussle, with students using cricket stumps and sugarcane sticks as weapons. The violence started near Gate Number 1 inside the campus and soon spilled over to the area near the Hanuman Setu Temple. The university administration acted swiftly. A five member committee of senior faculty members was formed to investigate the incident and recommend disciplinary action. One group of sha dents filed a complaint with the Proctor’s office, while the other group approached the police. According to an eyewitness, the confrontation began around round 12.45 pm near the department of journalism.
