Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Satur-day claimed the state government was underreporting the count of Mahakumbh bathers. His allegation led to a sharp reaction by Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary who said the SP chief was frustrated due to continuous electoral defeats and a shrink-ing vote bank, leading him to make baseless statements.
“As per our estimate, around 60 crore people must have bathed during the Mahakumbh till now, but the government is deliberately hiding the figures 10 that in future, if someone wants to do a study on the administration or management, then their failure will be exposed. Yadav said at a press conference at the Samajwadi Party office in Lucknow.
