Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged the Centre to transfer four forts, protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), to the state govt for up gradation and tourism-focused The forts include Talbehat Fort (Lalitpur), Kalinjar Fort (Banda), Madfa (Chitrakoot), and the steps at Barua Sagar Ghats in Jhansi. In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM termed Bundelkhand as the heart of In dia, and highlighted the region’s unmatched cultural and historical importance. “The land of Bundelkhand witnessed tales of courage, valour, and devotion. Its contribution to Indian culture and civilisation is invaluable. Yet, for decades, it remained neglected till 2014, Yogisaid. He said that the region was a cradle of civilisation since the Stone Age and later flourished un der the Gupta and Chandela dynasties, whose rulers built magnificent temples and forts.
He said that at the inauguration of the Bundelkhand Express way, the PM himself had inspired for the preservation and promotion of Bundelkhand’s palaces, forts, and monuments as part of India’s global cultural identity. The CM apprised the PM that significant steps were taken by the state govt to conserve and develop the heritage and legacy of Bundelkhand. “To strengthen the efforts, Ahmedabad-based CEPT University (Centre for Environ mental Planning and Technology) was engaged,” he said.
