गांधी जयन्ती की छुट्टी रद्द करने और फिर उसे गलती मानने के लिए गोवा के मुख्यमंत्री लक्ष्मीकांत पारस्कर चर्चा में रहे. इसके अलावा गोवा बजट के लिए भी अखबारों में छपे.
गोवा सरकार की ओर जारी कैलेंडर से गांधी जयंती को छुट्टियों की सूची से बाहर करने के विवाद का पटाक्षेप करते हुए राज्य के मुख्यमंत्री लक्ष्मीकांत पारस्कर ने इसे टाइपिंग गलती करार दिया. पारस्कर ने कहा कि ऐसा जानबूझ कर नहीं किया गया था. इससे पहले शुक्रवार को जारी 2015 के कैलेंडर में सार्वजनिक छुट्टियों की सूची में गांधी जयंती को शामिल नहीं करने पर विवाद खड़ा हो गया था. कांग्रेस ने गोवा सरकार के इस निर्णय की कड़ी आलोचना की थी. वरिष्ठ कांग्रेस नेता पीसी चाको ने इस निर्णय को बीजेपी की ‘बीमार मानसिकता’ कहा. पाटी प्रवक्ता आनंद शर्मा का कहना था कि यह राष्ट्रीय अवकाश है और कोई भी राज्य सरकार ऐसा नहीं कर सकती है. बीजेपी के गोवा से राज्यसभा सांसद शांताराम नाईक ने सरकार के इस निर्णय की आलोचना कीथी.

BJP-ruled Goa would not ban beef as it is an essential part of the cuisine of minority communities in the state, chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar told ET, adding that it had taken several years for his party to earn the trust of the state’s Christians and Muslims. “Regardless of what the Centre does — in Goa minorities are 39-40% — if it is part of their food habits, why and how can we ban it? For people — especially minorities — eating beef is part of their food,” said Parsekar.

Business needs to grow in Goaand job avenues are needed. A couple of months back we finalised our investment policy. We have also constituted an Investment Promotion Board. Now, we are in the process of inviting investors who can come up with proposals for setting up industries, but with a focus on ecological concerns and generation of jobs. These proposals will come to the Investment Promotion Board. I am the Chairman of the Board. We give in-principle approval to these projects and then relevant departments will study these proposals in depth. Things are moving.

Far from joining the BJP governments of Maharashtra and Haryana in banning beef, Goa chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar told TOI on Friday that his government has taken adequate steps to import beef to mitigate any shortage. There has been a shortage in beef supply after some NGOs blocked transportation of bulls into the state and the government machin t ery cracked the whip on stalls not possessing licences o operate.
